Fannish Fifty 2/50: Burn Notice fan creator recs
Redoing this post because I was petty in listing these recs and these days I roll my eyes at when I say fics were “well written” in the past. Also I just learned one of these authors started an AO3 account a decade ago but it seems they stopped writing fic after Burn Notice ended? 😭 Originally for the first incarnation of Fandom Snowflake, recs for
scripted_sra and
rise_your_dead/
Missy.
scripted_sra (also at
scripted_sra) focuses a lot on the enemyslash pairing of Michael/"Dead" Larry Sizemore. It's a pairing that makes me sad and angry at the same time (because I'd rather see Michael happy with his team than happy and evil with Larry).
scripted_sra makes this pairing compelling to read about.
Title: Easy (AO3)
Wordcount: 1,500
Rating: PG-13
Pairing(s): past Larry/Michael; Michael/Fi; Michael/Sam; Sam/Michael/Fi
Summary: This would be so easy.
Title: Between Past and Present Tense (link goes to master post) (AO3)
Wordcount: 25,450
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Michael/Andre, Michael/Larry, Michael/Sam, Michael/Samantha, Michael/Fi, Sam/Michael/Fi
Warning(s): References to underage sexual conduct (implied, not explicit); brief depictions of child abuse; bullying; homophobic slurs; imagined knifeplay; sex; breathplay; marking; minor self-injury, sort of.
Summary: "But in this career path, relationships and self-identity are not prioritized. While spies are trained to be able to ingratiate themselves with others, fooling strangers is a long way from the honesty and communication that people in relationships tend to expect. Combined with an emotionally stunted bedrock, navigating these waters can be ill-advised at best and downright dangerous at worst, often with little hope of success." And yet, despite everything, Michael Westen finds himself trying anyway.
Missy, on the other hand, likes to (but not always) deal with curtain!fic/baby!fic, but her curtain!fic/baby!fic still fits within the realm of Burn Notice.
(The first two recs are part of a series.)
