I really wanted to do more of a reveals post but I can’t say anything more than “Fallen London’s TTRPG and Dimension 29 lead me to Critical Role actual plays,” “haven’t done Yuletide in years because burnout,” and “changed my original idea of ‘how Pincushion [an undead fox] was created’ because there were already two stories like that on AO3, so stitched together some bits from the Soldiers’ Table to create an Occtis story.” So here’s my first Yuletide story in a long time, a pinch hit for euryydice. I just learned about Imgur going down in the UK? I was so confused because I found someone being very dramatic over the site going down in the UK and made it sound like the site was all the way dead instead of blocked in one country. I’ll probably slowly transfer over all my images to Postimages. I mean, not like Reddit went on one a while back and said you can’t use Imgur images outside Reddit anyway.

Review: The Death and Life of River Song: The Dissolution of Time

This is probably a very unique review for me. So on Tuesday 19 August Big Finish released (exclusively on their website) the third audio drama in The Death and Life of River Song series, The Dissolution of Time, fully written by Big Finish writer Rochana Patel. There's a general audio blurb on their website but not a summary of what each individual chapter has. So I'm going to try my best to summarize each chapter (with some spoilers, but this won't be a full summary of everything in the audio drama) before talking about my thoughts about the whole audio drama.

But in short this audio drama finds River teaming up with a seven foot panther-like alien trying to stop a time disturbance in Tudor England. And even that's not a straightforward look at the audio. (Dust was described in Big Finish's magazine Vortex, issue 197, so I'm not considering that a spoiler.)

I honestly had no intention of revising and expanding an exchange fic from a few years ago. The OTC's commercial promotion post

So I read this post from the OTC. I totally understand why OTC needs a non-commercialization policy. On a petty level I've been annoyed at, for instance, someone writing fics in a kink meme and then linking to a site like Ko-fi at the end. And for copyright reasons I get not monetizing works. But part of me feels like their rules are a wee bit draconian.

I've been linking to the summaries of books I use as summaries for unconventionalcourtship to prove that they're real books since the goal is to alter a romance novel summary for a fic. I'm not advocating people to actually buy the book. I don't even know these authors. I haven't read their books. 🤐 I guess in the future I may just leave the links to the comm announcement posts and on DW but I'm a bit annoyed I'm being lumped in with people who actually are "please go to my Patreon for more!" when I thought I was doing a good deed.

Also: The OTC mentions Twitch but I want to clarify that getting a Twitch account is free. I would assume under their TOS that asking people to get Twitch subscriptions (with or without Amazon Prime) is against their TOS. There is no such thing as "Twitch Prime." And technically I think X actually can't be allowed to since you can subscribe to individual creators on X.

IDK, I think this policy needs a little bit of hammering out because to be fair it's thorny to enforce their commercial promotion policy as is.

Haven’t done any fandom posts in a minute, but here goes…

This is a short and sweet post to say I’m probably not going to write about some people that aren’t at WWE anymore. Maybe if they’re connected to current people at WWE but that’s it. I feel my stories with a good chunk of people I wrote about with people not with WWE is over. That’s it. I still love these wrestlers even if they’re not at WWE anymore.

I am trying to write some WWE stuff but I’m procrastinating as I’ve filled my life with things such as “do I need to buy this thing or make this game transaction” and “it is very important I raid people in Clash of Clans today.” It will be done by next month I promise.

The weekly 50 weeks of posts post post #4: Debating where to put my fandom bookmarks

I have about around 800 bookmarks and most of them aren’t on AO3. I decided to stop using pinboard.in partly because of the owner’s views and partly because of the lack of tech support on the site (as in the guy still insists on not getting a lot a help for the site). I decided to move my bookmarks to raindrop.io. Despite reading the site’s instructions on how to make bookmarks public I haven’t found the button to make my bookmarks public.

The smartest thing to do is to suck it up, check to make sure what links are still operational and what isn’t duplicated on raindrop.io, and move them to AO3. But I just discovered a couple of alternatives to pinboard.in and Delicious. There’s Linkhut and Linkhorse. I don’t know how fanfic friendly those sites are, though. I’m looking at both of them and I’ll probably have some sort of a solution soon.

Update: Didn’t take me long. I’m going to sort through my duplicates on raindrop.io and move my bookmarks to AO3. It’ll take a while, though.

The titular Ace McShane and Tegan Jovanka end up companions (for lack of a better word) of River Song as River Song is tracking a scientist over various periods of time.

the weekly 50 weeks of posts post post #2: rejected Black Panther (MCU) fic idea

I decided to do fandom50challenge. I retroactively made my repost of my Scandal fics #1, and the post is here. This week I've decided to talk about a fic idea I have no idea I'll return to. It's that or "fics I'm reccing for comment_bingo early" but that'll be a post anyway, so why write the latter idea now.

So I wrote this fic for the femslashafterdark exchange before it ended. I had a vision for this fic I abandoned because in part I didn't have the time to execute the early years for Nakia and Okoye in the fic. Also my recipient didn't want death in their fic and I abided by that.

I planned to have Nakia start off training with the Dora Milaje before she decided to join the War Dogs. Here she would also be considered to be the Black Panther in case something went wrong in the royal family. Nakia would eventually become disillusioned with the Dora Milaje and feel that Wakanda should become more involved in world matters instead of staying isolationist. While Nakia was with the War Dogs T'Challa would die in combat with Okoye by her side (this idea was based off of a spin-off comic set before the Black Panther movie). Nakia would be picked up while on assignment with the War Dogs and go through the process of becoming the Black Panther (adhering to the MCU process without randomly having her eat a flower and poof, Black Panther). I'd rewrite the fic today but I never saved my canon notes to rewrite it and I'd have to search through everything I wrote to rewrite the fic.

I’m posting just the AO3 link as I think it’d be a lot of work to post the full thing here again, and I know I’d get the temptation to condense and re-edit my old stuff. TL;DR there was a fannish panic on fic including rape and also I was hounded for the smut I wrote. So I anoned this for a few years.
