Going to make my requests public since I’ve settled on them and I’d like other people to maybe help me get them nominated in the tagset: Black Lightning (TV), Killing Eve (TV 2018), Dirty Computer (Music Video), Preacher (TV), Raven’s Home, Westworld (TV). Probably will nominate for Dirty Computer, Preacher, and Raven’s Home. (Call the Midwife is inching towards being too big for Yuletide; not requesting it to be safe. I decided to drop The Bletchley Circle and Fallen London for space, unless rules change. Doubt that, though.) Yes, I plan to ask for femslash for everything and poly for Dirty Computer and Preacher, for those wondering. For those Yuletide comm posts in question: Darkfic for everything but Raven’s Home. Porn for everything. That’s all I know for right now. Apologize if I seem a bit eager at the moment.

3) Okay, real reason why I’m making this post. Yes, I’ve bought the latest Diary of River Song audio drama. Yes, although I shouldn’t, I’ll review it, with a review forthcoming on Saturday. I need the time; these are the longest individual episodes to date (all of them over one hour).

1) I've decided to gear up only for femslashex and Yuletide. Which means I'm going to put everything else I'm not excited by on the wayside. That WIP I was working on? I put it in the orphan_account on AO3. I'm also not doing that TARDIS Library bingo I thought I could do this summer, or a belated recs bingo for HC Bingo, or that feedback bingo all the way from after Yuletide last year.

1.5) I mean, I could write something else for femslash100100, but it would be for this show that was canceled after two episodes in 2007. Nowadays the episodes are on YouTube and some service called TubiTV. (I was considering waiting until Be the First ran next year, but one person, all the way back in 2010, wrote a slash fic for this fandom on AO3. I'm still upset about this.) Then again, I'd go so AU to the point the fic could also be read as original fic if someone wanted to do that, so yeah.

2) Unconventional Courtship! I have my fic ready! It's for Killing Eve, to my surprise after settling on summaries! But my posting date is the 11th. So I'll wait. I think.

So I got a card from tardis_library, which is running a summer reccing challenge bingo. I had no idea, between working on my Jukebox fic and disagreeing with various theories about Dirty Computer: An Emotion Picture online, that the card was linked to today’s Who Daily. I’ve locked it to myself on this journal, and hopefully I can get the link removed and the post set to public again when I actually work on the card.

BTW, the Emotion Picture is amazing—it’s everything I’ve wanted in a queer black sci-fi story that I haven’t seen in a lot of recent sci-fi canons lately (looking at you, Doctor Who). I highly recommend it. (It’s different from Janelle Monáe’s actual album; the songs in the Emotion Picture are out of order and some have been abbreviated [for length or lyrical content] for the narrative.)

I guess I’m glad I waited until morning my time to compile this, then.

1. Almost four years ago, I claimed a table for femslash100100 and only wrote one thing for it before not working on it for other exchanges and ficathons. Then someone started a non-PIV pregnancy exchange, unusual_bearings. I like the idea, but Doctor Who fpreg, at least on AO3, is so rare. I don’t think I could ask for it and get that in an exchange as opposed to, say, Wynonna Earp, which I don’t watch.

While I’m mulling over what late winter/early spring exchanges to do (at this rate, it’s only Jukebox, because I’d love to see more fic for “New Rules” and “Look What You Made Me Do,” but I’m also mulling Smut Swap), I want to finish that claim once and for all. I’ve already made it a general claim, since I couldn’t come up with Greek mythology pairings for the Greek mythology table, so I can just write the story of how Missy and River had the daughter that gave a younger Master his brooch. I’ve already written three parts, but have no idea when those parts will make it to AO3.

2. Also writing a crossover between Fallen London and Doctor Who. I don’t like what I’ve written; I want to change the setting before going back to the fic. May come back to that in time for who_guestfest, since the focus is on minor characters from “The Crimson Horror.”

3. The Diary of River Song Series 3 is out. I’ve already downloaded it to my Big Finish player. I plan to have a review up Saturday.

2) Already nominated fandoms for Yuletide. I am boring, and I pretty much nominated what I've nominated in the past except for shifting around Fallen London and Preacher (the TV show) characters. I would list what I've nominated somewhere, but apparently at yuletide/yuletide there isn't a nomination coordination post yet? Huh. Not getting into starting a post at those comms for that, because there has been stupid wank over who should do what posts at those comms, and I don't want a part of it.

3) I've been looking at some of my old fic. Some of it makes me cringe, but with other fics, I see some possibilities not explored when I was, say, trying to get blackouts for these mostly now-dead bingo challenges. I recently republished and edited a Torchwood fic (Gwen/Suzie) I wrote for AU Bingo, Angst Bingo, and the Porn Battle. I took out some of the more attempts to be "lyrical" (because I can't imagine someone suffering from Stockholm syndrome saying "I know I'm suffering from Stockholm syndrome," or something like that) as well as Americanisms (there was an "ass" in the fic when it should've been "arse"). But I still liked the idea of the fic--Gwen still being under the influence of Suzie's gambit from "They Keep Killing Suzie," long after the events of Miracle Day. And I wanted to expand on that fic on what happened to Jack and Rex. So I decided to sign up to spook_me yet again so I can expand on that fic, and I guess Suzie can count as a mad scientist?

tl;dr: I've decided to do Spook Me to expand on an old Torchwood fic. Even if, in 2017, few people will read a non-Jack/Ianto Torchwood fic.

The one day I go out on a Saturday and do morning errands, forget to check Dreamwidth for a while, and unconventionalcourtship finally opens up for signups.



This year, I'm thinking of something similar to a Harlequin Desire or Harlequin Presents summary. Leaning towards a Harlequin Desire where the plot was originally "billionaire impregnates hotel employee," but that could change, because I think way too much about how fpreg can possibly work and about Me's feelings towards losing her children in canon. The pairing will either be Clara/Me or Missy/River. Although I don't know about a possible Missy/River child. Different, yes, but I don't know if it's my kind of thing or not.
