With a hat tip to the vigilant [livejournal.com profile] ladydragon76 for all her hard work.

There's a LJ user, [livejournal.com profile] metapodik, who is scraping posts tagged as "fanfic" or "fanfiction" in some way and posting them as their own on a Wordpress blog (fanfic-journal dot com). metapodik is claiming they have the right to repost fic on their blog. They don't. And to make matters worse, their site has ads. metapodik is profiting off of other peoples' fanfic. (As well as posts tagged "fanfic/fanfiction" that have nothing to do with an actual fic. And yes, the bot is scraping posts tagged fanfic: [word] and fanfiction: [word] tags as well.)

[livejournal.com profile] ladydragon76 has written a writeup of the mess so far in three journal entries here, here, and here. In her posts are ways to get metapodik to take your stuff off their blog, if it's on their blog, and ways to contact LJ about metapodik, since LJ Abuse can't do anything about fanfic-journal dot com.

I checked the blog (with an adblocker on) to make sure my work wasn't stolen; it's not. But as an editor of [livejournal.com profile] who_daily, I do recognize some of the works that have been stolen on the Doctor Who tag (http : // fanfic-journal dot com /tag /doctor-who/) of that blog. I'll try to PM people I know offhand that have had their works stolen on the site (that write Doctor Who fic or other fics that I recognize), but if you've used a fanfic/fanfiction tag between March 2011 and now on LJ, you may want to head over to the site and try to get your work taken off the blog.

ETA: This was first reported on [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants, and here's an additional post from [livejournal.com profile] dreamflower02's blog.
