merryghoul: suzie costello (torchwood), text: totally sane person (Suzie mini)
I’m posting just the AO3 link as I think it’d be a lot of work to post the full thing here again, and I know I’d get the temptation to condense and re-edit my old stuff. TL;DR there was a fannish panic on fic including rape and also I was hounded for the smut I wrote. So I anoned this for a few years. Only issue is the fic not being canonically compliant (Big Finish wrote a Suzie Costello-centric audio which added things to the Torchwood canon well after I wrote this).

Yes, I’m also stalling some fannish things I should be doing to post this.

The Library (6032 words) by merryghoul

merryghoul: Jack Torchwood (Jack Harkness)
Years ago I probably made some fic recs (and a lot of other fannish things) to the Kink Bingo community. For various reasons I won’t list here, I took the recs (and other fanworks) off the comm. I rediscovered the post I made with the aforementioned recs recently. Since [community profile] recthething is, well, a thing, I’ve decided to share these recs there.

Originally there were ten recs, but some of the fics were hosted on LJ kink memes that have now been deleted. I have no idea if the authors saved their fics to another site. For the fics I do have links for, reccer chooses not to warn.

merryghoul: John Luther (John Luther)
I think my intention with this fic was to take out the art and repost all over and I never did that. I’m going to stick with the AO3 version for this story only, as it’s the least wonky-looking when it comes to the missing art.

merryghoul: torchwood team from countrycide (torchwood countrycide)
I said months ago I was going to edit and repost this fic on my journal, thinking I’d be able to post it to DW and LJ, but ha ha ha ha that didn’t happen. With LJ’s crossposting issues, LJ being in Russia at this current time, and the fact this fic was posted at a time DW’s HTML was different, I’m just going to link to this fic for posterity and take down the original DW and LJ links. Fic is also available on Teaspoon.

Fic originally written in 2011 for the dead reel_torchwood challenge, a challenge for Torchwood movie fusions and crossovers.

merryghoul: torchwood team from countrycide (torchwood countrycide)
Still working on cleaning up my Torchwood stuff. Which is hilarious because I still am in the process of vetting stuff actually dealing with the police I’ve written or used an icon for. I don’t think I ever reposted my Torchwood tw100 drabbles to my journal, but here they are. I guess only here since reposting is still borked for me.
merryghoul: torchwood team from countrycide (torchwood countrycide)
Just a couple of entries that are now a headache to edit because they were posted at a time when Dreamwidth HTML was all bunched together into one paragraph.

First, this was a direct link to a [community profile] femslash100 entry:

Title: Versiera
Author: merryghoul
Prompt: #304, curve
Fandom: Torchwood
Pairing: Toshiko/Suzie
Rating: R
Word count: 100
A/N: Title comes from the mistranslation of the curve known as the Witch of Agnesi.

Here’s the AO3 entry for the second:

Everything's Not Alright (748 words) by merryghoul
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Owen Harper, Toshiko Sato, Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Suzie Costello
Additional Tags: Crack, Community: au_bingo, Alcohol, Alternate Universe - Movie Fusion
Summary: Owen's tormented by a song from Jesus Christ Superstar.
merryghoul: suzie gwen docks, tkks (suzie gwen docks)
Totally forgot to post a link to this a while back because I became so involved in cleaning up my Gossip Girl piece, which I’m making live in a few hours. I wrote this back in 2011, but I rewrote some bits to clarify my thoughts on “They Keep Killing Suzie,” and added some things (like a not-so-dry title). It was originally written for the dead angst_bingo.

Because I could not stop for death: Emotional Manipulation in "They Keep Killing Suzie" (916 words) by merryghoul
Chapters: 1/1

Characters: Gwen Cooper, Suzie Costello, Team Torchwood
Additional Tags: Canon-Typical Violence, Mentions of Cancer, Implied/Referenced Suicide, Episode: s01e08 They Keep Killing Suzie, Episode: s01e01 Everything Changes, Implied/Referenced Character Death, Attempted Murder, Canon Temporary Character Death, Emotional Manipulation, Community: angst_bingo
Summary: Meta on how Suzie Costello, in her attempt to live forever in the episode "They Keep Killing Suzie," hurt Gwen Cooper.
merryghoul: Gwen and Jack Torchwood (Gwen and Jack)
Originally for Kink Bingo, taken out of the collection, reposted for consistent hyperlinks.

Title: stupid bird | AO3
Music: (in order) "Main Theme" from The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), David Shire; "Szamár Madár," Venetian Snares; "Beep Street," Squarepusher
Length: 3:47
File size: 75.13 MB
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: R
Character(s): Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, "Torchwood Tracker," Rex
Summary: The Tracker torments Gwen and Jack for information about Jack.
Content notes: violence (character death)
I should tell you Rex is bleeding because a pole passed through his body in the first moments of the miniseries--he's okay because of the Miracle Day curse.

The title of this video comes from the translation of the second song from Hungarian--somewhere around the ballpark of "Stupid Bird" in English.

Video is posted on Vimeo (for AO3). Summary of the video's contents below.  Mediafire download available.

On Tumblr.
0:00-1:33 "Main Theme" (no dialogue)
1:34-3:17 "Szamár Madár" (no dialogue)
3:17-3:24 No dialogue. Music briefly stops; gunshots going into the The Tracker's body can be heard.
3:25-end (Over "Beep Street")

GWEN He was just about to tell us!

REX Thanks? Anybody? Thanks?

GWEN And you shot him in the throat.

REX Hey, well, dead is dead.

Additional notes (originally presented as a footnote before this post was edited 6 February 2015): If you're new to this particular installment of Torchwood, at the start of this miniseries humans are unable to die. Had Gwen died in this clip (not like she would, since she's Russell T Davies's viewpoint character of the show), she would've bled until her body had no blood in it and/or lost the ability to think. It's because of this mysterious curse (and, apparently, someone knows who Torchwood is, but wanking about how people know Torchwood when they're supposed to be a secret agency is another matter) the last 40% of Torchwood Three reunited to find out what is causing, according to this show's news junkets, "Miracle Day." Meanwhile Jack, who was made immortal by the Bad Wolf during his first stint on Davies's Doctor Who, has lost his ability to stay immortal. If Jack gets killed before Miracle Day is solved, he's a goner.
merryghoul: Gwen and Jack Torchwood (Gwen and Jack)
It’s all about consistent hyperlinks, and correcting borked ones. For Kink Bingo, but later taken out of the collection.

Title: buckshot | AO3
Music: "Tep and the Logic," James Blake
Length: ~2 minutes
File size: 48.81MB
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: T
Paring: Gwen Cooper/Owen Harper
Character(s): Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper
Summary: Gwen gets shot with buckshot in her stomach. Owen has to take the buckshot out. She learns to relax while it is being taken out.
Content notes: violence (Gwen being shot with buckshot).

at Tumblr

I also have a download available at Mediafire

No dialogue in video, no lyrics in song.
merryghoul: Ianto Torchwood (Ianto)
Once again, to have consistent hyperlinks, mostly. Currently locked to avoid this fic appearing on the Torchwood newsletter by accident.

Title: The War Before the Roses | AO3
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Chuck Bass, Ianto Jones
Word Count: 529
Content Notes: none
Summary: Chuck realizes his new personal servant isn't as tame as he imagined.
A/N:Gossip Girl canon: AU 4.07. Torchwood canon: After COE, AU: Ianto doesn't die, but Torchwood is still dismantled. Originally written for Kink Bingo for a “shaving” prompt, but this isn’t even remotely sexy or sensual. I’m glad I took it out of that collection years ago.

note: do not link to this post on Who Daily or Torchwood Three newsletters, thanks in advance

I figured that, since I linked twice to [livejournal.com profile] recs for a couple of Torchwood rec posts and one of them linked to my old username, I would combine the links in one posts instead of having the two separate posts.

Title: Mels and the Wolf | AO3 | Teaspoon
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005), Torchwood
Characters: Mels Zucker, Amy Pond, Jack Harkness, Alex Hopkins
Prompt: family
Medium: fic
Wordcount: 1083
Rating: Teen
Warnings: no standard warnings apply; fic does contain creature death and canonical thoughts of killing a character
Summary: Mels would be the one to protect her mother from a wolf.

For [community profile] hc_bingo as well as [community profile] onlyonebed (just not in time for the latter's ficathon). Does contain a creature from the Marvel Comics run of Doctor Who comics, but it's not necessary to read those comics to understand the creature.

I did Google up the British education system and Welsh outdoor camps for some of this fic, but please tell me if I goofed up on anything.

It Ends with Tea )
merryghoul: tosh w/sea behind her, torchwood (tosh sea)
AO3

Pairings: gen (Toshiko Sato, Suzie Costello, Jack Harkness, Milton, OCs)
Rating: R
Warning: graphic violence
Word Count: 15142
Summary: Was the memory of Tosh being imprisoned in "Fragments" a truth, or was it a fabrication? In 2009, after Torchwood Three's headquarters was blown up, a draft of a report written by Tosh stated she was kidnapped by a "Milton" and imprisoned in a Welsh village for over a year. The story of how she escaped this village and eventually joined Torchwood is as astonishing as Tosh's short life and career with Torchwood.
Author's Note: Although this story is AU, certain canonical facts of Toshiko's life before Torchwood differ between Torchwood episodes. (Show bible? What show bible?) For this story, the time Tosh is imprisoned and when she joined Torchwood is based on "Fragments" as opposed to the year given in Mary's account on Tosh's life in "Greeks Bearing Gifts" as well as the date the TARDIS Index File gives on Tosh's imprisonment (2004).
