Still going through my old LJ to make sure [LJ icon]firstname_bunchofnumbers doesn’t like my posts to lead me to an obvious spam-filled journal and/or everything is in Cyrillic. Stumbled across a rewatch of Suits I did nearly 10(!) years ago while the show was still on, the slash fandom for the show died (I still don’t understand what happened there), and one of the actors literally wasn’t a Royal at the time. I trashed some of the fandom and rambled about Yuletide in the original rewatch posts. I wanted to repost everything from the rewatches without the rambling off-topic and bashing stuff. I’ll still keep some of the wrong assumptions about the show from 2012, but that’s it.

Title: At the Palace | AO3
Fandom: Suits
Wordcount: 1417
Rating: General Audiences
Characters: Harvey, Mike, Louis
Prompt: [community profile] trope_bingo: au: alternate professions
Notes: I know Louis is not that knowledgeable about basketball in the canon. I implied that he knows some things about basketball in this fic because of the profession. But not too many things.
Disclaimer: The places and college basketball teams exist in real life. The rosters of the teams (and the coaches, obviously) are made up. Although CBS Sports is mentioned, none of the on-air talent is mentioned in this fic.
Summary: Harvey and Mike face off against Louis at the Palace of Auburn Hills. College basketball coach AU. (Formatting fixes done 12/10/14.)

Since I haven't been talking about it too much, and I don't think there would be enough interest on [community profile] tv_talk for a thread. Also, [community profile] suits is dead, so, yeah.

Disappointed talk. Spoilers. )

Before I start, after I saw "War," I checked out "post-mortem" interviews and a few reviews around the web: TV Guide, The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, TVLine, the AV Club. I noticed that some people were upset with this finale and thought it wasn't, well, good, but then again, I do question if they've been paying attention to everything that's been happening this season. Personally I thought it was good (not great), but I felt it fit in with everything that happened in season 2. Well, except for Katrina's fate, because she disappeared in this episode. (She'll be back in season 3. In what capacity, I'm not sure.) At least this finale didn't give me rage like the Burn Notice finale.

Also, the AV Club shouldn't switch around their usual reviewers for a week as some sort of experiment. And they should also review Scandal.

Also: the episode where it feels like we're heading into Mad Men territory, but without the Mad Men characters, in regards to the ending.

Not really feeling this episode. For a show that's always had short seasons (unlike Burn Notice) this was, surprisingly enough, filler. TL;DR, it's a lot of back and forth about the Folsom Foods case as well as Monica, the woman who had an affair with Daniel in the flashback episode last summer. Guess it's because this episode's part of that Characters United initiative thing, which is against harassment of all sorts. I have nothing against their cause. I wish it wasn't shoehorned into the storyline like Universal Networks' Green Week. Anyway:

I got sick after [livejournal.com profile] who_daily, so that delayed me even further.

But despite Louis being Louis, this is a great episode about Rachel and her family. I don't care what the fandom thinks. I quite like her and don't find her whiny and needy at all.

Then again, that might explain my problems with fandom at times: I don't go by the fandom status quo.

(There are gifs under the cut.)

Um, I didn't add the cut. )

First off: what a great episode.

Second, ramblings.

This is the episode where Mike lies, gets people fired and lies again to save jobs. Yeah, good job there, Mike.

A bit belated, but I had a headache after this aired. And then I watched this late because I've just gotten into Scandal, and OMG SCANDAL. Also, it's the days before Porn Battle, so I was working on whatever prompts I felt comfortable would be added to the prompt list. And, of course, [livejournal.com profile] who_daily. So this had to wait. Next week, since Suits airs by itself, this will be up a bit earlier.
