I've always wanted to write for Fallen London ever since I started playing the game. I had no idea how daunting the research would be.

I did a lot of canon research for this fic. I did start off with consulting saint-arthur, but I eventually sought out the game text and even spent some time at the Fallen London TV Tropes page to make sure I understood the canon well.

I was given the option to write a story featuring the Bishop and the Soldier or the Repentant Forger. I was more drawn to the story of the Bishop when I started writing this. I lucked out when the game introduced new Hallowmas content that featured the Bishop in a minor storyline while I was researching the Bishop, and the new content helped me build a story around the Bishop's shadowy past, what he was probably doing in Fallen London's present, and his possible future.

I used to read graphic novels from DC and Marvel (and their side imprints), but I let that fell to the wayside for several years. I was a bit intimidated to returning to DC and Marvel to read non-tie-in comics (e.g. the tie-in to Arrow, which I hated) because I felt I'd be lost if I was reading one of those special comics event things (like Secret Wars or the New 52). I remember hearing about The Wicked + The Divine from somewhere (MTV.com, I think?), and I've always wanted to give it a shot, in part because it wasn't a part of some comics special event. And I like things dealing with gods. The Wicked + The Divine hooked me.

One thing that intrigues me a lot in the canon are these lavish parties the gods throw (like Dionysus' raves or Sakhmet's orgies in Valhalla), so naturally I was drawn to Inanna's orgies at his residence. And I thought one of Inanna's orgies would be a great place to examine both Inanna and Baal and their relationship while they were together, which is what burkesl17 wanted to read.

I had a few pinch hits set aside in my email folder for treating, but in the end, this was the request I felt the most comfortable treating. alchemise wanted to see post-canon fic where Michael and Fiona came back to Miami and, at the very least, saw Jesse again, so I came up with a scenario involving a minor bad guy from season six (Arthur Meyer) trying to expose Fiona (yet again), forcing Michael and Fiona (and Charlie, off-screen) to come back to Miami, at least for a little bit.
