Fandoms I wrote for: Cutthroat Kitchen RPF, Burn Notice, ESPN FC World Cup 2014 RPF (focusing on the Men in Blazers), Steven Universe.

My gift fic reveals and fics I consulted on/betaed are also here.

Fics I wrote:

My main assignment was for [archiveofourown.org profile] dizmo: The Regift That Keeps On Giving (Cutthroat Kitchen/Food Network RPF; 6,526 words; General Audiences; Alton Brown, Jet Tila, Simon Majumdar, Jeff Mauro, Justin Warner, Alex Guarnaschelli, Melissa d'Arabian, Antonia Lofaso).

I'm a huge fan of Food Network competition shows (sorry for not telling you all, f-list?), and I was delighted to get this assignment. I stuck to Evil!Alton within the realm of the show and did an episode-based fic. The contestants are mostly from The Next/Food Network Star, because that's another show I avidly watch on Food Network. (Except for Alex, who's mostly seen on Chopped these days.) I looked up a few recipes for the show and came up with some twists to make them dishes in the fic. And I picked some of my favorite challenges to include in the fic.

Also, there was a ball pit in a recent episode. I couldn't resist.

I wrote a treat for [archiveofourown.org profile] PineapplePrincess: Company Men (Burn Notice; 7,432 words; Teen; Sam Axe/Fiona Glenanne).

For PineapplePrincess, I decided to write a "what if" AU where Sam was in Ireland before Michael was in canon and met up with Fiona. I relied more on the retconned history of Michael/Fiona (around seasons six and seven) and the graphic novel First Contact for my canonical info. I came up with my own history of Fiona that combined a lot of incidents mentioned in the show but not seen on screen. (I would prefer not to publish it, because I fear someone might take my timeline and accept it as canon.) I also did extensive research on Ireland (including, but not limited to, the PIRA, Dublin, and the history of cheque-cashing places and pawn shops in Ireland and Northern Ireland) and the Navy SEALs to try to keep the story's details as realistic as I could get them.

I wrote a treat for [archiveofourown.org profile] mistresscurvy: "Men in Blazers World Cupcakes" (excerpt) (ESPN FC World Cup 2014 RPF/Cupcake Wars RPF; 1,671 words; General Audiences; the Men in Blazers (Michael Davies, Roger Bennett), Justin Wilman, Candace Nelson, Florian Bellanger, Original Characters).

I was very excited to see the Men in Blazers in the tagset, and I was also excited to do some sort of cracky adventure with them for Yuletide. Originally, I wanted to do their adventures trying to discover who won the World Cup at FIFA headquarters (similar to some of some of the cartoons that were made for them by Grantland), but I couldn't get it to work for me. I also considered them going on a quest for tiny bananas. Then I came up with the idea that they did an episode of Cupcake Wars before going to Brazil as a joke. That idea stuck. I based the fic around the presentation round of an episode of Cupcake Wars. Usually the weakest cupcakes with the least inspired decorations get cut around this part of Cupcake Wars. But with the Men in Blazers, everything is suboptimal. Why would they pick the cupcakes with the best decorations to win something that might be in the Crap Part of Her Name is Rio?

I grabbed a pinch hit for [archiveofourown.org profile] AstroGirl: The Hostage (Burn Notice; 1,119 words; Teen; Madeline Westen, Sam Axe).

I was in the process of writing a treat for AstroGirl when she went on the pinch hit list. I felt bad about not getting the treat done before she went out on the pinch hit list while I was working on an edition of Who Daily, and I felt even worse when I saw a blog post about her feelings about being on the pinch hit list, becuase I loved the Burn Notice request in it. I was fortunate enough to grab the pinch hit, especially after gettting the pinch hit I wrote about below first.

I focused on writing a request that fit most of AstroGirl's wishes: a fic centered on Madeline that didn't require a lot of canon knowledge, and, as an added bonus, put Sam in the fic. So I came up with a situation where Maddie's the only person who could get intel from someone involved in the kidnapping of Michael and Fiona. I had 1) Pain and Gain and 2) The U Part 2 in mind when I wrote this; they informed how I crafted the kidnapping plot on the fly.

I grabbed a pinch hit for [archiveofourown.org profile] DuoHimura: O Christmas Tree (Steven Universe; 1,423 words; General Audiences; Steven Universe, Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, Mr. Smiley, Mayor Bill Dewey, Greg Universe).

I felt I stayed true to DuoHimura's wishes. They wanted fic with the mother/son style relationship that Steven and Pearl had in the show, and they also wanted a Christmas fic with the other Gems. I wrote something in the spirit of the show, something that could easily fit in the canon as a Christmas special, if there was one. (Well, at least the show's coming back soon?)

I grabbed a pinch hit for [archiveofourown.org profile] Arduinna: Duck and Cover (Burn Notice; 1,470 words; Teen; Sam Axe/Michael Westen).

I was also in the process of writing a treat for Arduinna, but I didn't get to finish it before she went out on thr pinch hit list, either. I thought I didn't get that pinch hit as well, but I did.

I knew I wanted Michael and Sam in a cave, but I needed to put them in a plausible situation so they could be in a cave in Asia. So I did my own math to determine a possible time frame for Michael to be an active CIA agent prior to the incidents alluded to in "Psychological Warfare" (around 2000-ish). From there, I did some research on possible things happening in Asia (in a country with caves) in 1995-ish; that's how I came up with Thailand, the Mong Tai Army, and a fictional Thai refinery. When I had the details set, all I needed to do was get Sam and Michael to the cave.

I wrote a Madness treat for [archiveofourown.org profile] UrbanAmazon: We'll Never Speak of This (Burn Notice; 384 words; General Audiences; Michael Westen, Sam Axe, Fiona Glenanne, Madeline Westen).

I was inspired by a line in UrbanAmazon's letter (involving mysterious bruises, a swimming pool filled with ice, and Go-Gurt), and I really wanted to write a short fic about it. So I did, lol.
